The Infosys Science Foundation is saddened by the passing away of eminent art historian and scholar Kavita Singh at age 58 on July 30, 2023. Prof. Singh was the winner of Infosys Prize 2018 in Humanities for her work on Mughal, Rajput and Deccan art. Her erudition and warmth will be greatly missed by her students, colleagues and friends.


Thanu Padmanabhan 1957-2021


Thanu Padmanabhan

The Infosys Science Foundation expresses our deep condolences on the passing away of theoretical physicist and cosmologist Thanu Padmanabhan at age 64 on September 17, 2021. Prof. Padmanabhan was the winner of the Infosys Prize 2009 in Physical Sciences for his contributions to a better understanding of Einstein's theory of gravity. A passionate educator, he will be greatly missed by his students, colleagues and loving family.


Shamnad Basheer 1976-2019


Shamnad Basheer

The Infosys Science Foundation is saddened to hear of the passing away of lawyer and legal educator Shamnad Basheer at age 43 on August 8, 2019. Prof. Basheer was the winner of the Infosys Prize 2014 in Humanities for outstanding contributions to a broad range of legal issues, legal education, and intellectual property laws. His work for inclusive justice and access to legal education for all made him a pioneer in the field in India.
