Recent literature on human-wildlife interactions primarily explores how species interact with humans in shared spaces. However, a research gap exists regarding species willingly migrating to urban areas. Smooth-coated otters, absent from central Gujarat cities for 4-5 decades, now appear regularly. Urban living poses unique challenges and advantages, exposing otters to new stimuli like food, objects, pets, people, and activities. Our project aims to understand how otters navigate these challenges and how locals respond to an unfamiliar species
