Physics Immersion Program

The Immersion Program in Physics is conducted for college students from across the country who are pursuing physics at the Bachelors and Masters levels.

Our Goal

The Infosys Science Foundation believes in nurturing and encouraging students and budding scientists. Our programs that target students and educators expose them to the wider world of research and academia. Hands on workshops, interactions with towering intellects like Amartya Sen, Manjul Bhargava and others, ongoing programs like Limit Infinity and the Physics Immersion Program are all part of our endeavor to nurture the scholars and teachers of tomorrow.

Our Partners

The Infosys Science Foundation has partnered with the Physics Training and Talent Search (PTTS) to run the Immersion Program in Physics.

Impact

The Foundation ran a pilot program in December 2016 with 50 B.Sc. 3rd year students at the Regional Institute of Education, Mysore.

In 2018, the program was held at the National institute of Technology in Surathkal from May 21 to June 10. The program was structured at two levels, 50 students were invited for each level.

Level One comprised second year B.Sc. students

Level Two comprised first year M.Sc. students

In 2021, the Immersion Program was conducted virtually.

Learning From The Best

Along with hands on workshops and experiments, participating students get an opportunity to interact with physicists from around the world. Top scientists deliver exclusive talks and engage with the students as well.

Experts from among Infosys Prize laureates and jurors who have been part of the Immersion Program include Prof. Srinivas Kulkarni (CalTech), Prof. Rajaram Nityananda (Azim Premji University), Prof. Ashoke Sen (HRI, Allahabad), and Prof G. Ravindrakumar (TIFR).
